Abstract

Africa – US universities partnerships and collaborations is a critical and mutually rewarding activity for the African continent and for the USA. For the former there is the sharing of best teaching and research practices as well as establishment of prior nonexistent programs. For the latter, collaboration offers a room to engage with institutions in Africa, help strengthen academic programs back home, gain access to work and recruit African students as well as create avenue for US students to visit and collaborate with international industry partners. The project outline in this proposal seeks to establish a partnership between Northeastern University (NEU) in Boston with Gaston Berger University (GBU) bases in St Louis, Senegal. Northeastern University operates under a global network of campuses, and for this project, the program coordinators will be based at the Roux Institute which is a Northeastern University campus based in Portland Maine. The project will target both university students and faculty at GBU and NEU, computer science professionals in St Louis and neighboring towns including Dakar. The program will also target computer science educators across Senegal.
